5th Dutch brony meetup

The 12th of may was a nice and sunny day

Perfect for the bronies of the Netherlands to gather up and spend the whole day doing brony things with other bronies from all over the country! Bronies gathered From Marestricht to Ponygen. About 150 bronies showed up. That’s about 50 more then our last meetup and a very impressive number altogether!

We had a lot of people from the dutch community working on their favourite kind of fanart; musicians were making music, some people were painting their custom blindbag-ponies and ofcourse there were a lot of talented artists drawing their way trough the day. We also had some fun competitions like a fanfic competition, a pubquiz and as always a drawing competition!

Furthermore, we had a reporter at the meet who made a newspaper article about the meet which was featured in wednesday’s Noord-Hollands Dagblad. Here you can read all about it.

We want to thanks all the attendees for being on their best behavior and we are looking forward for our next big meetup!

Hasselt Mini-Meet

Mini-Meet time! The party canon was deployed in Hasselt, Belgium this time. We arrived at about 12:00 at the Hasselt Train Station. When everypony arrived we started marching towards the local bowling alley. There, we played about 3 or 4 games before heading into town. We went for a quick bite at Hasselt Fried Scootaloo (or Panos, for the people who were very reluctant to eat Scootaloo).

After that, our raids began! Two Bart Smits, but no blind bags to be found. Although somepony scavenged a cardboard Pinkie Pie We didn't steal it! We asked politely. The shop keeper was a bit weirded out by that though...

We also decided to head out to Blokker, because we heard rumours that there might be blind bags there too. We were lucky! Some of us forgot our Love and Tolerance motto for a second and grabbed away at the bags. But in the end, it was some nice, ordered chaos. Most of us who wanted one actually got one. But our hunger for ponies was not stilled! We pulled out our smartphone and found out there was another Blokker "only" 2km away.

With haste we made way to this other Blokker, because it was about to close! Our hooves were sore, but we arrived... Just too late About three minutes after closing time. But a Brony spirit can not be broken! We took a bus back to the station, had a drink in the pub, played some ponified Uno and then went back home.

16 ponies showed up, so it was a good and very fun meet!

2nd Belgian Meet Recap

What can we say about today's Brony Meet? Well, to sum it all up in one word: It was EPIC!

The events of the day were as followed:
We gathered at Central Station in Antwerp at 12:00, from there on no less than 63 Bronies entered Antwerp.
First stop of the day was Bart Smit, as usual. Unfortunately, no blind bags to be found...
Second stop: McDonalds on the Groenplaats. We bought Happy Meals and some of us managed to get Fluttershy. Unfortunately, some of us weren't as lucky because McDonalds ran out of ponies faster than you can say "Brony-raid".
After taking a picture our group picture on the Groenplaats, someone came up to us and interviewed some of us for the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad! That article appeared the Monday after.
Moving on to our rented conference room in Antwerp Expo. There we watched some Brony vids on Youtube, played Ponyhunt and socialized with each other. At 7:00, the time had come to watch the livestream of the new episode. We all sang the theme song with our loudest voices and laughed at Pinkie's shenagigans and Metal Gear Solid references.

When we were packing up, your faithful crew-member was approached by someone who turned out to be a reporter of P-Magazine! He wrote a five-pager about Bronies. The article was published on Winter Wrap Up (20 March).

Recap of the 4th Dutch Brony Meetup

Hello fillies and gentlecolts!

Saturday the 4th of February was the date for our 4th Dutch brony meetup. We had an amazing group of over 90 people attending despite of the bad weather which made it impossible for several bronies to reach us.

We started off with a group of 60 bronies who were all trembling of cold (and excitement) but more came in later as all the trains finally arrived. We had some some bronies even arriving 4 hours later because they got stuck but refused to go home!

During the meet, we had several activities planned but our planning went a bit hay-wire (pun intended) because of the weather. Still, we had several successful activities like Ponyhunt, drawing competitions, Ponies and Dragons, Pony auction, Pony mane-styling, sing-alongs and of course the bronystate stream just before the episode!

Thanks to bronystate, we were able to give a massive shout-out to the bronies all across the globe. Even though the quality of it was not great (thank skype for that), I think we managed to show bronies worldwide how awesome brony communities are.

After a fruitful meetup, we had to send the bronies off into the cold winter night again but don't despair! There will be another meetup in 2 months! April 7th to be exact.

Thanks to all the bronies there who make the community awesome and of course thanks to bronystate for featuring us on your stream!

Belgian Brony X-Mas Meetup Recap!

This was the very first ever Belgium Brony meet ever, so the fanbase seems to have finally hit this small European country. There were 37 of us, most from Belgium, but also a lot of people from the neighbouring country The Netherlands.

Our day started in the Central Train Station, in the city of Antwerp, the heart of Flanders (the Dutch speaking part of Belgium). When everyone was present we went into the city and visited our first toy store, Bart Smit. The people and personel there were a bit weirded out by the fact that there were suddenly over 30 people in the shop and that most of them bought ponies. After that, we went for a quick bite at McDonalds, confounding those Puss In Boots toys and hoping that the ponies would be the next batch.

Our group foto was taken shortly after and we hit another toy store to buy even more pony toys. This time, the personal was even more weirded out. "Lots of people here today huh? Yeah, and they're all buying ponies..."

Normally, we would now be going to a room we rented with internet and a beamer, but this was cancelled at the last minute.. So no live-stream for us. Instead, we went to a local café where they had a big basement where we could hang out. There, we played a ponified version of a popular game called "Werewolves" [free translation from the Dutch "Weerwolven"]. The ponified name was "Shadowbolts of Ponyville".

So, despite the fact our room got cancelled and there isn't much pony merch to be found in Belgium, we had a blast with this large, fun group and are planning to host several more meetups after this one.

TL;DR version: First ever Belgian meeting, and we had a blast!

Meetup recap 3 december!

Hello everypony!

We've done it again! After two earlier successful two-monthly meets back in October and August we've successfully finished our third meet in Utrecht, The Netherlands! The amount of people that came doubled from 26 to a whopping 59 since the second meet!

We rented a place in Utrecht to keep our hoofsies warm and had a lot of fun in the few hours we were together. Card- and boardgames were played, pony-related music was played, new people were met, interesting conversations were held and at 4 pm our time we all watched the live stream episode together! This resulted in 59 people bursting into singing the intro tune together and a lot of cheering was heard several times during the episode (and boo-ing when commercials came along). All in all, it was great fun!

We hope to see all of you again on February 4th to help us wrap up winter and with a bit of luck, the amount of bronies in the Netherlands will continue to grow! Keep an eye on this site for updates about our next events and help us to make the community even bigger!

Recap Dutch brony meeting, October 2011

The second meeting of the Dutch bronies took place on October 1st 2011 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.The event was announced in the Dutch Ponychan thread and on the Rainbowdash Network.

17 people signed up who were certain they'd come, 8 more people weren't sure. At the event, 26 people showed up.

We gathered at the local Burger King, inside a mall next to Utrecht Central Station. After introducing oneself and meeting some local emos (the place is quite a popular location for meetups), the organizers checkend who was present. After waiting for some people who were going to be late, we headed off into the city with giant Pinkie Pie.

After leaving Burger King we walked through the mall making a short stop for a picture of Pinkie at asweet shop while enjoying the looks on people's faces when they saw the giant pony.

After a short walk through the city, a couple of bronies went back to the mall to collect the people who were late and the rest of us decided to sit down at a small park.

Here we pretty much settled down, put down our bags, and gave giant Pinkie a nice spot for the passers by to enjoy it.After a few minutes someone started playing MLP songs on the guitar and most of us sang along. After the final bronies arrived, a small group went to a nearby supermarket, and soon returned with a great feast of cupcakes, cookies and sweets.

Over the course of the day people separated into small groups to visit the local toy shops (and not without succes)

and to buy some chalk

Before the first people had to leave, we took some group pictures, shot by some fellow passers by.

Around 5 PM, we decided the wrap it up.We distributed the leftover food (which was quite a lot) after which most of us went to visit a place called "Cloppenburg" while everyone else took gaint Pinkie to the car of the person that was taking it home. With a little creativity it fit in the car without ensuring the driver of certain death.

Finally we went to McDonalds for a healthy,nutritious, and well balanced meal. After eating we had a group hug, said our goodbyes and went back home.

Meetups are the first Saturday of the month, once every 2 months. Everypony is welcome! The time and location of the next meeting are currently being discussed. Stay tuned for more info.

Recap of the Dutch brony meeting August 2011

When news about the meeting was posted in the Dutch thread on Ponychan, it started with 4 attendees and 2 unconfirmed, but after 1,5 months this grew to 13 Confirmed and 5 Maybe.

In the end a total of 14 people showed up, and this is a recap of the afternoon.

So we met up at the Burger King in Amsterdam for a 'nice' lunch/breakfast while some of the bronies started drawing and others started playing guitar and talked about being a brony and what got them hooked on the show. After waiting a while for some late arrivals we were complete and the meet was underway.

As we left the Burger King we figured we would take a group photo now that the whole Dutch brony herd was complete!

And how can you not think of Pinkie Pie when you see these pink balloons?

After that we headed into Amsterdam on a quest for ponies! It was a long walk but we met some interesting people from Anonymous that where handing out fliers, we spoke to them for a while and they were really nice guys and didn't mind us taking a few photos with them.

After a while we noticed that there where many pony-related store names including "Cloppenburg".

But none of the bronies could resist the cafe we encountered next :

So all of us went inside to rest up for a bit and to get something to drink and of courseâ€¦ MUFFINS! (if the organizer of the meet-up had an element of harmony it would have been that of generosity, since he bought muffins for everypony!)

After the shenanigans at cafe Luna we looked up some places where we could find ponies, but first one of the bronies decided to buy something to drink at a bakery and the cashier noticed the My Little Pony shirt. She couldn't believe all of us liked the show and she started singing "My Little Pony, My Little Pony," and the entire brony herd started singing the G4 opening. Naturally it caught her off-guard and she laughed it off.

After that we managed to find three stores that contained ponies. We were pretty satisfied and decided to make one more stop before we called the first Dutch brony meeting off.

As soon as we started saying our goodbyes and did our brohoofs the sky suddenly turned black...

Apparently somepony wasn't amused that our meeting came to an end because the sky burst open and no brony was safe from the rain.. All of us were soaked to our flanks. Several of the bronies decided to call it a day, but a small group headed over to a brony's house. Pizza was ordered, and we watched some... What would you think?

My Little Pony, of course!

And that's how the first Dutch brony meeting came to an end, we were are already discussing plans for a next meet-up cause it was a great success and there were some others that couldn't make it.
